Black Sikaflex®-554 is a professional construction adhesive that has been specially developed for demanding bonding applications in vehicle and commercial vehicle construction. Its high initial adhesion and permanent elasticity make it the ideal choice for bonding airline rails, lashing rails, and large-area components that are permanently exposed to stress and movement.
Thanks to its discreet black color, Sikaflex®-554 is particularly suitable for use on dark surfaces or in visible bonding areas—for example, in vans, trailers, or interior conversions.
Sikaflex®-554 – Strong adhesion to a wide range of materials
Sikaflex®-554 is a single-component, moisture-curing adhesive that adheres reliably to a wide range of substrates – often without even requiring pre-treatment with primer. For particularly durable bonds, e.g., on anodized or powder-coated aluminum, we nevertheless recommend the use of a suitable primer.
Suitable substrates include:
- Aluminum and anodized aluminum
- Steel and painted metals
- Plastics (compatible with many common types)
- Ceramics, primed surfaces, and other materials
How to properly prepare your bonding surfaces
For optimal results when using Sikaflex®-554, follow these steps:

Clean the surfaces thoroughly – free of oil, grease, dust, and other residues. Use acetone or a silicone-free cleaner, for example.

Roughen the surface with fine abrasive fleece or sandpaper to improve mechanical adhesion.

(Optional) Apply primer – for difficult or heavily loaded surfaces.

Apply adhesive – in a continuous triangular bead. The adhesive bead should be about twice as high as the planned distance between the two bonding surfaces.

Join the components together quickly before the adhesive begins to form a skin.
The supplied nozzle can be cut to size to perfectly match the application.
