The new combination rail from allsafe combines two practical solutions in a single aluminum profile: airline rail and piping rail. This makes it possible to secure cargo as well as attach awnings, awnings or tarpaulins to the vehicle without having to install two separate rails.

Thanks to the integrated groove, you save time, material and space when extending your motorhome, camper or van. Two matching end caps for a neat finish are optionally available. The end caps are opened at the keder groove. This means that it is not necessary to remove the end cap when inserting the keder.

Application areas: Security meets comfort

What is an airline rail?

Airline rails are primarily used to secure loads. They enable the flexible fastening of objects inside or outside the vehicle, for example camping accessories, canisters or modular vehicle extensions. Suitable fittings, lashing straps and adapters ensure a secure hold.

What is a piping rail used for?

The piping rail – also known as a piping strip or piping profile – is typically used to attach awning curtains, awnings or tarpaulins to motorhomes or campers. The piping, usually made of reinforced fabric or plastic, is simply pushed into the groove and holds the attachment firmly to the vehicle.

An additional practical benefit: Due to the low body height, the combination rail can also be mounted as a skirting board on the lower edge of the motorhome. There it is used to attach the awning's awning rail and ensures a wind and view-protected transition.

Technical details of the piping rail

  • Internal diameter of the groove: 8 mm
  • Groove opening: 3 mm
  • Recommended piping size: 4–7.5 mm (diameter)
  • Material: aluminum profile
  • Scope of delivery: Combination rail with a length of 0.5 - 3.0 meters

Make sure you choose the right piping diameter; there are different sizes depending on the area of application (usually 4 to 11 mm).

Mounting the airline keder rail – gluing or screwing?

The combination rail is supplied undrilled, but can be glued or screwed in the classic way.

Gluing: The gentle option

Bonding with Sikaflex 554 is particularly suitable for sandwich superstructures on motorhomes. The integrated beading on the underside of the rail ensures a better grip on the substrate. Before bonding:

Clean the surface with silicone remover or acetone (free of grease and dust!)

Slightly roughen the adhesive surfaces for better adhesive contact

Follow the adhesive instructions for the adhesive used

Screw mounting: The classic fastening method

If you decide to use screws, you should follow the installation instructions from allsafe:

  • Screw spacing: every 75 mm
  • Use: countersunk head screws (strength ≥ 10.9), washers and self-locking nuts
  • Alternative fastenings: Rivet nuts or anchor nuts for restricted access

For watertight installation on the outside, we also recommend using self-adhesive rubber sealing tape between the rail and the bodywork. This keeps the inside of the vehicle free from moisture and dirt.

Conclusion: Two systems – one clean solution

With the airline keder rail from allsafe, you combine the advantages of two fastening systems in one high-quality rail. Whether for interior fittings, securing loads or conveniently attaching an awning, this combination rail is the clever solution for campers, vanlifers and anyone who loves functional storage space.
