Airline rail floor profile
Airline rail floor profile – a secure and versatile solution for transport and wheelchair securing
The airline rail as a floor profile is the ideal choice when it comes to a stable and space-saving fastening option. Whether in a van, trailer, or motorhome, the floor profile provides a reliable basis for securing loads. The rails are flush-mounted in the vehicle floor from above or placed in vehicle walls with the appropriate dimensions, thus providing a secure connection that neither interferes nor takes up additional space.
The airline rail is particularly popular as a floor profile because it is universally applicable: for securing loads with lashing straps, in combination with locking bars and locking beams, or even for securing wheelchairs in accordance with DIN 75078-2. This makes these rails ideal for private users such as camper van converters as well as for professional users in transport logistics.

Variants of the airline rail floor profile
To help you find the right solution for every application, we offer three different variants of the floor profile:
Airline rail floor profile Light
Retractable and with a minimum installation height of only 9.5 mm. Ideal for thinner floor panels such as 12 mm screen-printed floors, where complete milling is not required. Lightweight, stable, and tested in accordance with DIN 75410-1, EN 12640, ISO 27956, and ISO 27955. Often
retrofitted in the Mercedes Sprinter as a horizontal rail to
complement the original cargo area paneling. Airline rail floor profile Heavy
Duty Robust version with greater installation depth (13 mm), developed for extreme loads. Perfect for commercial use and also suitable for wheelchair securing in accordance with DIN 75078-2.
Floor profile with millable wings
Particularly suitable for individual installations and special solutions, as it can be optimally integrated into existing structures.
Fastening the airline rail floor profile
Correct installation is crucial for maximum stability:
- Light profile: Fastening with M5 countersunk screws (hardness 10.9) recommended.
- Heavy duty & wheelchair securing: Fastening with M6 countersunk head screws (hardness 10.9).
- The screw spacing should be a maximum of 75 mm.
- In vehicles without a solid floor (e.g., motorcycle trailers or sandwich panels in motorhomes), we recommend using counterplates or metal strips to distribute the forces optimally.
Alternatively, the airline rails can also be additionally glued – for example, with Sikaflex 554. This solution is often indispensable, especially in sandwich panels. Thorough pre-treatment with cleaning and primer is mandatory to guarantee a durable connection.
Typical areas of application
The airline rail floor profile is a real all-rounder:
- Vans & trucks: For professional load securing with straps, locking bars, or screw fittings.
- Trailers: For the secure fastening of motorcycles, machines, or bulky loads.
- Motorhomes & campers: For installation in the vehicle floor for flexible solutions inside and outside.
- Wheelchair securing: Tested and approved in accordance with DIN 75078-2, ideal for barrier-free vehicles.

Frequently asked questions about the airline rail floor profile
The airline rail as a floor profile is flush-mounted in the vehicle floor and offers a safe, space-saving solution for securing loads. It is particularly suitable for vans, trucks, trailers, motorhomes, and barrier-free vehicles. Here we answer important questions about variants, installation, load capacity, and typical areas of application.
What is an airline rail floor profile and why is it so popular?
The floor profile is flush-mounted in the vehicle floor and provides stable lashing points without getting in the way or taking up extra space. This keeps the loading area level and easy to walk or drive on.
The airline rail floor profile is used in vans, trucks, trailers, and motorhomes and is versatile – from classic load securing with lashing straps to combination with locking bars to wheelchair securing in accordance with DIN 75078-2.
What variants of the airline rail floor profile are available?
The airline rail floor profile is available in different designs to cover different installation and load requirements:
- Light: only approx. 9.5 mm installation height – ideal for thin floors such as 12 mm screen printing plates, tested in accordance with DIN 75410-1, EN 12640, ISO 27956 & ISO 27955.
- Heavy Duty: with an installation depth of approx. 13 mm for maximum loads, also approved for wheelchair securing in accordance with DIN 75078-2.
- With wings: Profile variant for individual milling and integration into special floors – ideal for special structures and customized floor systems.
How is the floor profile fastened?
Different fastening methods are used depending on the variant:
- Light profile: Screw connection with M5 countersunk head screws (strength 10.9)
- Heavy duty & wheelchair safety: Screw connection with M6 countersunk head screws (strength 10.9)
- Screw spacing: maximum approx. 75 mm
In sandwich panels or non-solid floors, counterplates or metal strips should be used for better force distribution.
Alternatively, bonding with construction adhesives such as Sikaflex 554 is possible – especially in motorhomes, campers, and trailers, if a solution that is as flush as possible and visually clean is desired.
