We are now offering the Light flat profile with item number: 1025501-15S in a length of 1.5 meters and with item number: 1025501-20S in a length of 2 meters. Thanks to its width of 65 mm, the flat profile offers more contact surface, especially for gluing.
The black airline rail angular - light - narrow with a total width of only 28 mm is available in the usual length of 1.25 meters and now also in a length of 2 meters. The airline rail is no longer available as an anodized version but as a powder-coated version. The rail can be glued, riveted or screwed. We recommend screwing with rivet nuts in size M5 and a screw strength of 10.9.
Areas of application for the black airline rails
The black powder-coated airline rails are becoming increasingly popular. Due to their resistance to weathering and many other external influences, these rails are often used outdoors.
Airline rails are used in conjunction with roof rack feet, especially for the construction of self-constructed roof racks. This enables the installation of roof terraces, roof tents, solar panels or similar structures. One advantage is that the fittings can be inserted almost without a grid. Other components, such as the M8 lashing rail nut and the roof rack feet (both made of stainless steel), protect the superstructures from the weather. The black Airline rail angular - Light - narrow is also often glued into the rain gutters of vehicles where there is not enough space for the 34 mm wide Light corner profile.
In motorhomes, these Airline rails are glued into the rear garage to secure camping tables, chairs and other loads against slipping, falling over or rolling back and forth. In motorhomes, airline rails are preferably glued, as the construction of the walls often does not provide enough support for bolting.
These rails are becoming increasingly common in off-road vehicles such as the Landrover Defender. It is used to attach sand plates, canisters or solar modules. The 65 mm wide black flat profile is often glued to wide roof surfaces, but can also be glued to vehicle walls. Due to the 3 surfaces, more screws can be used with this airline rail. The tensile strength can be further increased as a result.
Mounting the black airline rail
The installation should be carried out with countersunk screws size M5 and rivet nuts or, where possible, with nuts and washers and, depending on the surface, with larger counter plates. Airline rails are often only glued. With correct pre-treatment, i.e. roughening the surface, degreasing with acetone and pre-treatment with primer, these can withstand high loads in conjunction with Sikaflex 252i. However, we still recommend additional fastening with countersunk screws!
We expressly point out:
The installer of the load securing equipment is responsible for the installation and the resulting possible load and durability.
