Load Lock & Cargo Bars

Cargo bars and load lock bars for vans and trucks are available in different lengths and designs. To choose the right bar for your load area, one measurement is particularly important: the distance between the contact surfaces must be within the adjustable working range of the selected cargo bar.

At Kurierbedarf.com, you can choose from cargo bars with working ranges from 1.05 to 2.70 m – from compact versions for vans and commercial vehicles to longer models for trucks and box bodies, as well as the professional SAM 55 with internal webbing strap and telescopic brake.

Which cargo bar fits my van or truck?

Quick answer: First measure the distance exactly where the cargo bar will be installed. The measured distance must be within the specified adjustable working range. For vans, models are available from just 1.05 m, while cargo bars for wider load areas and trucks extend up to 2.70 m. You can then choose between a conventional rack-and-lever mechanism and the webbing strap system used by the SAM 55.

Our tip before ordering:
Do not simply measure the overall width of the vehicle. What matters is the actual distance between the two contact surfaces at the intended installation position. Wheel arches, side wall linings and individual load area conversions can change the usable distance.

Suitable for: professional applications in vans and other commercial vehicles where an internal webbing strap and telescopic brake tensioning system is preferred.

Rack-and-lever cargo bar or SAM 55 with webbing strap?

If more than one model covers the measured internal distance, the tensioning system becomes the next important selection criterion.

Conventional cargo bars with rack & tensioning lever

Our conventional aluminium cargo bars use a 42 mm diameter tube. The telescopic length is adjusted to the load area and the bar is then tensioned between the intended contact surfaces using a rack-and-lever mechanism.

This robust and straightforward design is available in a particularly wide selection of working ranges, covering applications from smaller vans to large truck box bodies.

SAM 55 Professional with webbing strap & telescopic brake

The SAM 55 Professional Cargo Bar uses a different system with an internal webbing strap and telescopic brake.

Its aluminium tube has a diameter of 55 mm. The tensioning principle allows the bar to be tensioned in a controlled manner and can therefore be particularly useful in vans, refrigerated vehicles or vehicles with more sensitive load area walls.

How to measure for a cargo bar – choosing the correct working range

Do not select a cargo bar purely by vehicle model or an estimated internal width. Even two identical vans can have different usable dimensions because of side wall linings, insulation or individual load area conversions.

Find the right size in 4 steps:

1. Decide where the cargo bar will be positioned in the vehicle.

2. Measure the actual distance between the two intended contact surfaces.

3. Choose a cargo bar whose adjustable working range includes this measurement.

4. Then compare the application and tensioning system to choose between a conventional cargo bar and the SAM 55.

Example: If the measured distance is 1.82 m, then 1.82 m must fall within the specified working range of the selected cargo bar. Looking only at the maximum extended length is not enough.

When is a shoring bar the better choice?

A conventional cargo bar is tensioned between suitable surfaces inside the load area and does not require permanently installed cargo rails. This makes it particularly flexible.

A shoring bar, on the other hand, is fitted into compatible cargo rails or dedicated mounting points. If the vehicle already has a suitable rail system and a defined mechanical connection to that system is required, a shoring bar may be the more appropriate solution.

FAQ – choosing the right cargo bar

What length cargo bar do I need?

Measure the actual distance between the intended contact surfaces. This measurement must fall within the specified adjustable working range. Depending on the product range, our cargo bars cover working lengths from 1.05 to 2.70 m.

Which cargo bar is suitable for a van?

For vans, conventional cargo bars are available in ten working ranges from 1.05–1.40 m up to 1.90–2.27 m. The SAM 55 Professional is also available in three working ranges from 1.65–2.10 m up to 2.10–2.55 m. The actual measured distance inside the vehicle is the deciding factor.

Which cargo bar is suitable for trucks and box bodies?

For larger load areas, five conventional cargo bars are available with working ranges from 2.00–2.37 m up to 2.36–2.70 m. The required distance should always be measured at the intended installation position before ordering.

What is the difference between a rack-and-lever cargo bar and the SAM 55?

The conventional aluminium cargo bars use a 42 mm diameter tube and are tensioned with a rack-and-lever mechanism. The SAM 55 uses a 55 mm aluminium tube with an internal webbing strap and telescopic brake.

Choose the right cargo bar for your load area

Whether you operate a compact van or a wide truck box body, choosing the right cargo bar or load lock bar starts with the correct adjustable working range. With ten working ranges for vans, five versions for trucks and box bodies, and three SAM 55 Professional sizes, the selection can be matched closely to the actual installation situation.

Not sure which length you need? Measure the distance at the intended installation position. This measurement provides a much more reliable basis for choosing the correct cargo bar than the vehicle model alone.
