Since 2017, the Crafter has been built on a modern platform – identical in many respects to the MAN TGE. Depending on the intended use, the Crafter is available with front-wheel, rear-wheel, or all-wheel drive and in different weight classes. This makes it the ideal basis for continuous commercial use, from compact city delivery vans to large-volume transporters for extensive assembly or shuttle tasks.

Older VW Crafter series (relevant for conversion and accessories)
Before the current Crafter generation (from 2017), which was developed entirely by Volkswagen, there was the VW Crafter I (2006–2016). This model was developed in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz and was largely based on the Sprinter of the time.
